Luke Ferguson '25 Named Scholar Athlete of the Week

Bayside Academy Athletic Director and Boys’ Soccer Coach Jamie Ferguson had this to say about Luke: “Luke is a true competitor, an athlete that shines due to his talents. However, his ability to elevate those around him is just as powerful. Teammates look to Luke for guidance and comfort in the heat of the game. Whether it is taking the game-winning penalty at the State Soccer Final or sinking the 4-foot putt at State golf, Luke might be burning up with competitive fire inside, yet he only displays a steady calm demeanor. This poise allows team mates to relax, live in the moment and enjoy the game. This competitive spirit, calm head, and leadership will serve Luke well in life, both college and beyond.”

Of Luke, Bayside Boys’ Golf Coach Mark Lasseter says, “I have had the pleasure of teaching Luke since he was in second grade. Even back then Luke was kind, observant, respectful, and always had a smile on his face. Today, that little boy has grown into a young man that exemplifies all that is good in mankind. He has a heart for others. He is an unbelievable athlete with tremendous talent, but that is overshadowed by the kind of wonderful person and leader he has become. It is my honor to be his coach.”
