Time to Build

After plenty of practice building structures collaboratively, each child had the opportunity to design their own home.
Using their prior knowledge of shapes and using those important bilateral coordination skills to stabilize their rulers while making straight lines, students began their projects by creating a floor plan. They learned that a floor plan is a map for making a building from a bird’s eye view and should be developed before building begins. Children also worked on laying bricks in an alternating pattern using playdough, incorporating patterning and fine and gross motor skills.
